James Bermingham

James is a veteran hospitality and real estate executive with over 30 years' experience building record-breaking exits for ownership, crafting best-in-class branded-residential developments, investing in institutional-quality assets across continents, raising capital, and launching and merging global brands.
Most recently, James served as CEO of Virgin Hotels. During his tenure, he oversaw the merger of the ultra-luxury Virgin Limited Edition brand and the lifestyle Virgin Hotels brand, creating Virgin Hotels Collection with seventeen properties. He pioneered integrated loyalty programs in conjunction with sister companies, including Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Voyages, and delivered assets throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa in high-performing markets with substantial barriers to entry.
Previously, James was Executive Vice President of Operations at Montage International. James joined at the brand's inception, opening its first property, Montage Laguna Beach, in 2003. He later oversaw a portfolio of operations for Montage Hotels and Pendry Hotels that resulted in three exits at $2 million per key for ownership partners. As the inaugural senior leader of Montage Residences, James curated the lodging industry's residential gold standard, including urban units that traded for $5,000 per square foot and resort residences that sell for as high as $30 million. James also served as Chairman of Visit California, collaborating closely with the 18,000 Visit California members and Governors Brown and Newsom to elevate the state's tourism revenues, securing demonstrated improvements for its membership and its communities. He also led the tourism trade missions on behalf of the state to the United Arab Emirates and China to promote the group's mission.
